User Group Login Redirect Home Page

For many sites, that functionality is just fine. Often, however, Webmasters find they need to display a different 'welcome' or Home Page for Registered users, versus Authors, versus Editors, versus Publishers, etc. Then the native login module functionality can get somewhat restrictive.

If you run a membership-based site, using Account Expiration Component (AEC) and JACLPLus for example, the problem is even more pronounced. You can sell a user a membership using AEC and assign that user to a specific User Group created via JACLPlus in 1.5, or using the expanded ACL in Joomla 1.6. However, the login module will show all users the same screen on logging in. Webmasters often need to get specific information to specific User Groups.  Suppose Free Membership users should go to a screen encouraging them to upgrade, while Platinum-level users should go straight to a page full of goodies just for them? The native functionality of Joomla simply doesn't allow this to happen!

CorFun has now solved this problem, and expanded the options open to Webmasters for showing custom information at login for different User Groups. The CorFun Login Redirect Component allows you to set up one URL in the Login Module leading to the Login Redirect Component. The Component then sends the user to the correct login URL (page) at log in. System also works great with shopping sites that want to redirect different user classes to different pages of products.

User Group Login Redirect Home Page works with Juga and noixACL in Joomla 1.5! That's right.  Place Juga in the first security group slot. Then simply enter the group number and the redirect page that is associated with the group and you are done. For noixACL just use the user group alias in the slots as your would user groups.

In Joomla 1.6, the native ACL is so powerful that we have yet to see the need to support any extensions.

The Component is very simple to configure and has the following features:

• Define a default login URL (page) to display for any User Group (class) for which a specific URL is not defined.
• Define different URLs (pages) to display to different groups (classes) of users at login.
• Works with native Joomla ACL (Registered, Author, etc.) in Joomla 1.5 and 1.6 and works with any component in Joomla 1.5 such as JACLPlus, which creates custom user groups (classes) using the core Joomla functionality. Login redirect will work for JUGA and noixACL also in Joomla 1.5. (May not work for other components which create external ACL.  If you have a questions about the compatibility of a component in Joomla 1.5, then please ask before you buy. The native functionality of Joomla 1.6 is fully supported.)
• Easy to set up as you only define the User Class name and the URL. In the Joomla 1.6 version, all User Groups appear in select boxes for ease of use.
• Can work to redirect users to any URL, including a completely different Websites, a specific  Joomla page, or a specific Joomla component! Anything reached via a URL on any Website can be used as a redirect.
• Works with any Joomla login module (native Joomla login, CB Login, Signal Login, etc.) or component that has a Login URL feature!
• Works with or without Community Builder!
• Download package includes a custom Virtuemart Login Module to enable login redirection to work with Virtuemart's own login system for Joomla 1.5.
• Makes a great compliment to any site with different user groups.
• Download package includes both the Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 1.6 component versions.

The Webmaster simply inputs the name of the User Group (class) and defines the URL to direct users of that class to the specified URL when they log in. For Joomla 1.6, all defined User Groups are in select boxes for ease of selection. Only the URL must be entered.

The User Group Login Redirect Home Page component can work, as shown, with the native Joomla user groups, and can also work with the custom user groups provided by components such as JACLPlus in Joomla 1.5. As noted for Joomla 1.6 the native ACL is robust enough to stand-alone.

The Login Redirect component gives you a simple and easy way to control what your users see when they log in to your site. Use it to get the right news, marketing pitches, and content to the right groups of users! 

Especially since this component works with any login module, with or without Community Builder, it is a must-have for a large number of sites which need specific information to be provided to specific user groups on login.
