K2 Contributor Login Redirect

CorFun, Inc. has used K2 extensively to build blogging and community sites for clients. The only drawback we found to the system was the inability to direct contributors and readers to specific pages when they logged into the system via the K2 Login Module. The K2 Contributor Login Redirect componet from CorFun fills this need. As shown below, the component is extremely easy to set up. The component provides a default URL for any user signing in belonging to a K2 User Group that does not have a specific URL set up. The component also provides slots for all the defined K2 User Groups so that you can pick what URL each redirects to when logging in via K2. If you don't assign a User Group to a specific URL, then members of that group will go to the Default URL when logging in.

The component is simple in set up and use, but gives you a lot of power. K2 is expanding both as a product catalog and as an eCommerce extension that joins with Virtuemart to expand product display options. With this component, K2 User Groups can be used to redirect shoppers or catalog browsers to their own unique landing pages. A user signing in that is a wholesale shopper can be automatically sent to the Wholesale specials page (built in K2 of course), while a retail shopper would be sent automatically to the regular Retail specials page. A K2 contributor (one of your employees, for example) would log in and go immediately to the product management page. There are many more ways that this component can be used!

Any K2 User Group can be redirected to any desired URL. The URLs do not have to be K2 pages. They can be any page on your site, or even external pages on the Internet. You just have to have your users assigned to K2 User Groups, and have them signing in via the K2 Login Module. The rest is up to us!

K2 is the popular powerful content component for Joomla! K2 gives Joomla CCK-like features and is available from Joomlaworks.gr. K2 provides the ability to create  Joomla articles with additional fields for article images, videos, image galleries and attachments. K2 includes, nested-level categories, tags, comments, and more. In addition, K2 lets you set up User Groups that lets you have contributors that can only provide certain types of content. The User Group ability is especially helpful for anyone running a group blog, community, contributor-based news site, or even a site which has many types of people logging in to read content, but only a few contributors.
