The Flytabs Virtuemart Theme does some really awesome things. In addition to arranging the product data in easy-to-navigate tabs, the theme provides the awesome Zoom Image functionality, image swap, and even an embedded video player.

Flytabs is a Virtuemart Theme. As explained in a different blog post, a Virtuemart Theme only controls the functioning of the shopping cart. Your Joomla website must have a template of some kind in addition to our Virtuemart tabbed theme.

The vast majority of Joomla templates will work with FlyTabs.  Here are some cases in which FlyTabs and your template may not get along.

If your Joomla Template requires a specific Virtuemart Theme to function, then you might experience problems. An example of this is the Mynxx Template from Rockettheme. We love Rockettheme templates, and the vast majority of them work just fine with FlyTabs. But Mynxx does not play well with FlyTabs, because it comes bundled with its own Virtuemart Theme.

The integration between the Mynxx template and the theme is extremely tight, so putting FlyTabs into Mynxx causes havoc to ensue. It is possible, if you know what you are doing, to make Mynxx play well with FlyTabs, but it is not for newbies. If you are considering FlyTabs, then make sure your intended template does not use its own Virtuemart Theme. If it doesn't, then you should be good-to-go, even if it is a template specifically designed for a shopping site. If it does, then please check with us first before you buy the FlyTabs theme, or (better yet) pick a different template! There are thousands to choose from.

If your Joomla Template was coded by an amateur, bad things could happen. I'm not trying to be mean here, but quite often problems reported with FlyTabs boil down to underlying errors in home-grown templates. Templates combine CSS, php, and Javascript.  Even experienced coders make mistakes, and some of them are fatal. Be careful about using a template from an inexperienced developer. FlyTabs is in production on hundreds of sites. If your intended template is a totally custom job, and the two conflict, then guess where the problem probably is?
