TOPIC: URL issue

URL issue 2 years, 6 months ago #551

Hi,
Before I start, I must say that the support for the product has been exemplary. It is fast and I got all the help I need as soon as I post them.

Here is another set of problem when using the Jcat scroller.
============================================================

Is the jcat scroller able to support more than one level of category?

I find that for a same category page, the url generated from menu manager and the one within the scroller is different.

As a result, I can access the pages with the scroller module if I used url generated by menu manager but if it is from the scroller, I will still get to the same page albeit with a different url and hence, without the scroller module displayed.

eg
www.pigeonbaby.info/v3/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=2

If I access the pages from main menu on top, no problem.

However, if I were to access the page from the mothercare icon within the page, I lost the page with the module as soon as I click on the breast pump icon in the jcat scroller.

Hence, I am puzzled now do u create a page like this
www.corshops.com/Belts-+-Buckles/Born-to-Ride-Belt-Buckle.html with the side module still displaying even after other products are selected?

Are these pages created from menu manager?

I want the same thing for my jcat and jproduct scroller.

I hope you get what I mean. More importantly, I hope I can deliver what I told my client is possible.

Hello Joshua -
The URLs are created using a URL rewrite component called sh404SEF. There is another one called artio joomsef as well. We don't create the Search Engine Friendly URLs, we just use them. You might want to Google for sh404SEF and read up on it. That is the one we use on all our installs.

thanks. I will check it out.
Btw, do u understand what I am trying to say and what my issue is ?

Thats why I want to know how this is www.corshops.com/Belts-+-Buckles/Born-to-Ride-Belt-Buckle.html with the product scroller is created.

You seems to be able to keep the module at the right side even though the product in the scroller is clicked. I cant seems to be able to do that.

I did the same for my category and products but once I click on the icons in the scroller, the module do not appear anymore

Hello Joshua,

I've taken at look at this. What is happening is when you set up the menu item you linked directly to the category and not to the category browse page. The scroller module uses the category browse page and category id.

I am trying to figure out a way around this, but I'm going to need a little while to check it out. What is your time frame?

Joshua,

Is there any way you could set us up a temporary super admin access account so that we could look at a few things on the backend? If you agree, use the pm system to send it and not the forum.
