Is there a way to add VMs native Lightbox feature to the scroller (click on thumb image and get the image in a lightbox)? Can the native VMs "use Ajax to update cart" feature be implemented when I click on the Add to Cart button?

I wouldn't be interested in pursuing the picture load in a lightbox, as that defeats the purpose of the scroller. The scroller is here to get people to the product to hook them on the product and get them to buy. Okay, so the image pops out at them and then what? They see a nice image, and have to close the lightbox to take any further action. I just don't think it has mass appeal.

The add-to-cart with AJAX is a nice idea. I'll talk with Jerry about pursuing it and keep you posted.

The idea of the lightbox popup (maybe it was a wrong way of describing it) is that with a simple mouse rollover a bigger image is shown, instead of
Click on image in scroller >
Load/see detail page >
Click again to see larger image >
Close Lightbox >
Get back to page with scroller.

I should add that I only use your scroller to let users view/browse the store, instead of the thumb pages.

So a tooltip popup with the larger image that only stays in place as long as the mouse is over the product?

Yes, that is it. I have the scroller set to 9999 seconds, so it does not move unintentionally, so to say, and I think with a tooltip it would just sweeten the deal.
