TOPIC: login redirect for admin (how)

login redirect for admin (how) 7 months, 4 weeks ago #3109

Good Day,

I've installed the component and everything seems to be working fine with exception to one thing.

I'm using joomla's acl in j1.6. with different user groups added. One of the user groups has to be redirected to the administrator section of joomla. I'm assuming that once you enter the login and pass, it has to log in as admin immediatly, but it's not..

What is happening is, usergroup X logs in.. the component directs to /administrator but that usergroup x has to log in again..

is there a way that the component can retain the login info for group x so that it logs into the admin section one time?

Hello -

The extension hasn't been upgraded for J1.6 or J1.7. It is still listed as a J1.5 component because K2 is not yet stable for J1.6/1.7. It's still an SVN. However, I went ahead and set up a K2 Development environment to bang this out over the next couple of days. Give us some time, and I'll send you a J1.6/1.7 compliant component.

Hi... thanks for that, it kinda sorta does work for 1.6... atleast it's working for me... i just set it up differently... but what I do want to know is after you make the change for a fully compatable 1.6/1.7 version... will the component be able to do what i will like it to do... which is if group x logs in .. will it take them directly into the administrator dashboard or will they still have to log in again once redirected... ?

I'm afraid not. The Joomla login to the administrator won't respect the frontend login. If it did, then when you are logged in and authenticated on the frontend, merely accessing the administrator would let you log in directly. That's not the case, unfortunately.
