TOPIC: Problem with the right column squashing search

Problem with the right column squashing search 2 years, 7 months ago #420

Hello,

Thanks for installing this module. It works really well, though I have a problem I'm hoping you can help me with concerning my template. It might be a general question concerning joomla templates but it involves the sobi2 search page. I'm a novice at programming and would be very grateful for any help.

I have recently decided to add a banner module to the right column of my template. I have set the module position ('right2') to display only when 'sobi2task' = 'sobi2Details' so it does not appear on my sobi2 'search' page, only on my details page. However, despite not displaying the banner, the 'search' page is still squashed to the 544px width that the main column becomes if a module is using the right column; the width of the main column when no module is using the right column is 760px, which is an ideal width for displaying the search listings and google map.

My question is the following: Is it possible for me to specify using a style code that the sobi2 'search' should display in a fixed table that is 760px wide and if so where should I write that code?

Many thanks.

I hope this makes sense.

Oh yes, before putting a banner module on my site I had a problem with my "google mapping for sobi2 search results" being squashed when viewed using Opera10. Despite nothing being in the right column its width was 544px. It works splendidly with firefox and explorer. Being able to have the 'search' within a fixed width 760px table would probably fix that problem too.

Thank you very much for any assistance you can offer.

Sorry, I'm a bit of an idiot. Although, in fairness, I'm learning all the time.

I solved the problem. I changed the com_sobi2.css file. Now it displays correctly in Opera10beta.

table.sobi2eSearchForm {
width: 722px; (previously 95%)
margin-left: 38px; (previously 5%)

Woooooohoooooooo! sorry, I got carried away.
