Here's a pre-purchase question: does your component support the importing of locations (as well as their categories) from a file - something like a CSV file would be sufficient.

We've got a couple of hundred locations in about a dozen categories we'd like to import and it'd certainly speed things up if we could import them all rather than enter them in one at a time. Also, it'd probably make it easier for our non-web admins to maintain in an Excel spreadsheet.

If the answer's yes, I'm ready to buy.

JMaps actually is a module that maps data housed in the SOBI2 directory component for Joomla (or Community Builder for that matter).

For CSV import, the best would be SOBI2 as the directory to house all the data, and to import the data from a CSV using this plugin:

The import and backup plugin which includes the CSV import capability is 35.00 EUR and is just so worth it. We've done several projects where we imported thousands of entries into SOBI2 with this tool. They have good customer support as well. We are friends with the developer of SOBI2, and highly recommend their work.

If you are supporting search, then you should also consider the Radius Search plugin which lets people find locations close to their zip codes:
